Whether you’re returning to ballet or trying it for the very first time, we want you to feel at ease. These FAQs cover the practical details so you can focus less on the unknown—and more on the joy of moving.

What dance styles do you teach?

We are experts in classical ballet.

What makes this studio different?

We prioritise:

  • Discipline and consistency

  • High-level training standards

  • Small, focused groups

  • Long-term dancer development

This is not a casual drop-in studio.

Our ballet studio is designed for dedicated adult dancers who are serious about training and growth. We operate on a membership basis to maintain consistency, discipline, and high training standards. Members commit to a structured program.

Where are you located?

Classes are run in 3 locations: Studio 25, Mornington on Tuesdays and Saturdays, Frankston South Community Centre on Mondays and The Studio at Mornington Community House on Thursdays. The timetable specifies which location the scheduled class will take place at.

Do you accept complete beginners?

Yes.

Can anyone book classes online?

No. Only members have full access to the booking portal. For more information on the process towards membership see here.

Which class is right for me?

We will discuss this with you during our initial meeting.

What should I wear?

There is no strict dress code. Wear whatever you feel most at ease in while still allowing for movement. While ballet shoes are perfect, socks are also acceptable for those just starting out. We also offer a range of merchandise if you prefer to avoid leotards. Please do not wear strong perfume to the studio since sweating increases intensity and it may bother other students in the confines of a small studio. Avoid wearing chunky jewellery as a safety precaution for all.

Do you have change rooms?

Yes. We do not have showers at any of our locations.

What happens if I arrive late?

For safety and to minimise disruption, late entry may not be permitted once class has begun. Aim to arrive a few minutes early.

Can I watch other students classes?

Classes are closed to maintain focus. Open days or performances will be scheduled for guests. When members are waiting for their class to begin, they can watch the very end of the class prior quietly.

Do you offer performance opportunities?

Yes, we offer two intimate salon style performances per year regardless of level. Participation is entirely optional. Dedicated performance classes are offered separately and are tailored to all the dancers involved. These classes run outside the regular class schedule.

Will the teacher correct me in front of others?

Yes. Corrections are offered as information, not judgement. They are given respectfully and constructively, and never to embarrass.

What is the class etiquette?

Please follow the teacher’s instructions, stay aware of your surroundings, and be mindful of spacing. Avoid chatting during exercises, and respect your fellow students’ learning. Please avoid giving corrections to other students unless asked.

Members are expected to:

  • Arrive on time and prepared

  • Maintain professionalism and respect

  • Commit fully to training and growth

  • Represent the school positively

Can I start mid-term?

We do not have terms. We have 12 week membership blocks.

When are classes?

Saturdays, Monday nights, Thursday nights and Tuesday mornings. Please see the timetable.

How old do I need to be to attend classes?

We teach students above the age of 16. There are no exceptions. The majority of our students are aged between 20-70. This means you cannot bring your child to an adult class if they are under 16. If you are interested in separate kids ballet classes, please talk to us.

How much are classes?

This varies depending on how often you attend. Please see memberships.

How early should I arrive at class?

Arrive no more than five - ten minutes before class.

Where can I store my belongings?

Open cubicles are available in the ballet rooms for personal items at Studio 25, Mornington and at Frankston South. Please be aware that belongings are left at your own risk, and the studio cannot be held responsible for lost or stolen items.

Where do I park?

Free parking is available in the car park directly outside all of the studios.

Do classes run on public holidays?

We observe most public holidays. if a class is not running as a result of a public holiday is will show as cancelled in the timetable.

Do you offer exams?

Not at this stage.

Can my kids, friends, pets observe class?

Due to limited space and to maintain focus, children under 8 may not observe classes unless they are supervised by an adult and not disruptive. No pets are permitted in the studio. Adults not participating should avoid remaining in the studio during class.

Can I film & take photos during class?

No, unless given permission by your instructor. To respect privacy and copyright, recording or sharing footage from classes, rehearsals, or
performances in public or on social media is strictly prohibited without the explicit consent of the studio, teacher, and all participants. Reviewing routines can help with practice and improvement. To support this, teachers may record class demonstrations and share them privately for the class’s use only.

Will the studio take photos/videos?

Yes. As per our terms & conditions, images or videos captured during classes, workshops, or performances will be used to promote Ballet Éternel on marketing materials. We may take candid footage at any time.

Are classes suitable during pregnancy?

Pregnant students are welcome, with modifications provided for safety and comfort. Please inform your instructor and get medical clearance.

Can I modify movements if i need to?

Yes. Modifications are always encouraged. Inform your teacher before class of injuries or conditions. We recommend that you consult your doctor or healthcare professional before joining, to ensure ballet is appropriate for you. You are welcome to opt out of certain exercises, take breaks, or adapt movements to suit your individual needs.
