Whether you’re returning to ballet or trying it for the very first time, we want you to feel at ease. These FAQs cover the practical details so you can focus less on the unknown—and more on the joy of moving.

What dance styles do you teach?

We are experts in classical ballet!

Do I need dance experience?

Our Absolute Beginner class welcomes participants with no experience.

Can I attend a class to try it out?

Yes, we offer one 50% off trial in total per new student. We also have a 3 class intro offer after that.

Do I need to book?

Yes everyone needs to book, no matter if you’re using a membership or pass. Class sizes are limited and booking ensures the comfort of all in the space. It is essential that that you book through the MindBody App if the class is full, you can join the waiting list.

Which class is right for me?

If unsure, book the lower level first. Fundamentals Beginner: No experience needed. Foundation Elementary: Builds confidence and basic technique. Precision Intermediate: For returning dancers with approximately 8 years prior training; more complex combinations and centre work. Artistry Advanced Extension: for dancers with 10 + years experience

What should I wear?

There is no strict dress code. Wear whatever you feel most at ease in while still allowing for movement. While ballet shoes are perfect, socks are also acceptable for those just starting out. We also offer a range of merchandise you are welcome to wear to the studio if you prefer to avoid leotards. Please do not wear strong perfume to the studio since sweating increases intensity and it may bother other students in the confines of a small studio. Avoid wearing chunky jewellery as a safety precaution for all.

Do you have change rooms?

Yes we do at the Mornington studio. However, due to limited capacity please arrive dressed and ready for class. We do not have showers at either of our locations.

What happens if I arrive late?

For safety and to minimise disruption, late entry may not be permitted once class has begun. Aim to arrive a few minutes early.

Can I watch other students classes?

When you are waiting for your class to begin, you can watch the end of the class prior quietly.

Do you offer performance opportunities?

Yes, we offer an end-of-year showcase for all students who are interested regardless of level. Participation is entirely optional. Dedicated performance classes are offered separately and are tailored to all the dancers involved. These classes run outside the regular class schedule.

Can I modify movements if i need to?

Yes. Modifications are always encouraged. Listening to your body is part of adult ballet. Inform your teacher before class of injuries or conditions. We strongly recommend that you consult your doctor or healthcare professional before joining, to ensure ballet is appropriate for you. That said, our classes are taught in an inclusive and supportive way. You are always welcome to opt out of certain exercises, take breaks whenever needed, or adapt movements to suit your individual needs. We are committed to creating a safe and welcoming space, and we encourage everyone to move at their own pace and participate only to the extent that feels safe and comfortable for them.

Will the teacher correct me in front of others?

Corrections are offered as information, not judgement. They are given respectfully and constructively, and never to embarrass. You’re always welcome to let your teacher know if you prefer minimal corrections.

What is the class etiquette?

Please follow the teacher’s instructions, stay aware of your surroundings, and be mindful of spacing. Avoid chatting during exercises, and respect your fellow students’ learning. Please avoid giving corrections to other students unless asked.

Can I start mid-term?

You can join at any time (unless the class is marked full). Classes run continuously all year, except for on public holidays. We do not have ‘terms’.

When are classes?

Saturdays, Monday nights and Tuesday mornings. Please see the timetable.

How old do I need to be to attend classes?

We teach students above the age of 16. There are no exceptions. The majority of our students are aged between 20-70. This means you cannot bring your child to an adult class if they are under 16.

How much are classes?

This varies depending on how often you attend and what level of flexibility your require. Please see memberships and passes. We offer single casual passes, 10 class passes and memberships.

How early should I arrive at class?

Arrive no more than five - ten minutes before class. The waiting area is small, and there will be a class before yours in most cases.

Where can I store my belongings?

Cubicles are available in the ballet rooms for personal items. Please be aware that belongings are left at your own risk, and the studio cannot be held responsible for lost or stolen items.

Where do I park?

Free parking is available in the car park directly outside both of the studios.

Do classes run on public holidays?

We observe some public holidays. In 2026, we will be closed on Labour day Mon 6 April, Easter Monday Monday 27 April Anzac Day, Mon 8 June Kings birthday, Mon 28 Dec Boxing Day holiday 

Do you offer exams?

Not at this stage.

Can my kids, friends, pets observe class?

Due to limited space and to maintain focus, children under 8 may not observe classes unless they are supervised by an adult and not disruptive. No pets are permitted in the studio. Adults not participating should avoid remaining in the studio during class.

Can I film & take photos during class?

No, unless given permission by your teacher. To respect privacy and copyright, recording or sharing footage from classes, rehearsals, or
performances in public or on social media is strictly prohibited without the explicit consent of the studio, teacher, and all participants. Reviewing routines can help with practice and improvement. To support this, teachers may sometimes record class demonstrations and share them privately for
the class’s use only.

Will the studio take photos/videos?

Yes, sometimes. As per our terms & conditions, images or videos captured during classes, workshops, or performances may be used to promote Ballet Éternel on marketing materials. please speak to us if this is an issue for you.

How long does it take to see progress?

Everyone progresses at their own pace. With regular practice, you’ll notice improved posture, strength, and confidence over weeks.

Are classes suitable during pregnancy?

Pregnant students are welcome, wit modifications provided for safety and
comfort. Please inform your teacher and get medical clearance

Do you sell ballet gear at the studio?

No, we don’t sell traditional ballet gear like leotards and stockings. But we do have Ballet Éternel merchandise like t-shirts, leggings, bags, and water bottles. For traditional ballet essentials, Capezio in Mornington is nearby. Comfortable clothing you can move in is all you need for class.
