  • Combinations get longer.

  • Instead of single exercises, you’ll start doing: Multi-step sequences at the barre.

  • Short routines in the centre.

  • You’ll remember patterns, not just follow along move-by-move.

  • Faster pace. Less stopping.

  • Teachers won’t pause as much to explain basics.

  • Watch a demo.Try it with music shortly after. It can feel quick at first—but that’s how your brain and body adapt.

  • More technical precision. The focus shifts toStraighter knees.

  • Stronger turnout (from hips, not feet)Pointed feet and controlled landingsCorrections become more specific and frequent.

  • You’ll spend more time away from the barre doing: Balances, Simple turns (like half or single turns), Small jumps (petit allegro) This is where things start to feel more like “real dancing.

  • Introductions to turns & directional changes. Expect basics like: Spotting your headSimple pirouette prep. Moving across the floor. Coordination becomes more challenging.

  • Small jumps are introduced.Sautés (basic jumps)Learning how to land softly and safely. This builds strength and timing.

  • TerminologyAt this level, teachers assume you know basics like: Plié, tendu, dégagé.

  • They will give combinations mostly in French, so recognition matters. It feels mentally harder. Less “copying,” more thinking. You might mess up combinations or forget steps. That’s completely normal—this is where real learning kicks in. Strength & control start showing. You’ll notice:Better balance (even if inconsistent), Stronger legs and core, More awareness of your body
